General description of the project type and size The 96th Street Station is a historic structure.  Citnalta built a new structure on the street median through the track bed.  Citnalta performed a significant amount of work adjacent to the tracks so as to get the new control house above the street. The station remained fully operational throughout construction.  Citnalta was the General Contractor responsible for supervising all of the trades.
Description of scope of work General Contractor responsible for supervising all of the trades. Citnalta oversaw and/or performed 100% of the contract work.  Structural work included new foundations and structural steel down to the track bed through the platform to construct a control house on the street level in the median.  3 blocks of street and sidewalks were reconfigured in order to accommodate the new space.  This work was performed over the live platforms and tracks.  The entire station including electrical architectural finishes, mechanical and plumbing were renovated and restored to new as part of the project.
Original Start and End dates of construction The contract was awarded on 3/17/2007 and provided for the project to be completed in 40 months.

Completed 1/2011. Project completed in 45 months as per NYCT provided time extension.
