In June 2022, Citnalta was awarded P.S. 160, a new four-story addition to an existing school in Jamaica, Queens. Since then, the team has been making steady progress securing permits and finalizing the project buy-out.
Over the past few weeks, on-site crews have completed the installation of Support of Excavation (SOE) and are approaching the completion of excavation for cellar footings. The team expects to begin pouring concrete for the 53,342-square-foot building’s foundation this month.
In addition, the crew will begin low-voltage upgrades inside the existing building, consisting of fire alarm, a teacher-activated speaker system and a camera system.
The completed project will include four floors and a half cellar, as well as new HVAC units, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection, and photovoltaic panels to comply with the Green School Guide requirements. The new structure will have a precast panel façade and is expected to be complete by April 2025.
