Construction of a new 3K Center at P.S. 486 Queens

Citnalta Construction Corp. was currently the general contractor for a new 3-K center at P.S. 486 in Queens, New York. The work involves two phases. The scope of work for Phase 1 included the completion of interior build out of new partitions, plumbing (roughing and fixtures), mechanical (ducts, accessories and units) and electrical work for the school including all low voltage system such as data, voice, intrusion alarm, fire alarm work and exterior work. Phase II will involve all remaining work within the contract and signoff with the Department of Buildings.

P.S. 196 Queens: New-Story Addition & Alterations

Citnalta Construction Corp. was the general contractor on the P.S. 196Q project. The project involves building a new four-story and sub-cellar addition to the existing building and alterations to the existing school, such as signage, new digital video surveillance, and connections to the existing fire alarm and signal systems. The scope of work also consists of site improvements such as: sidewalks, play area paving, entry stairs, equipment pads, fencing, planting, retaining walls, curbs, and play equipment. Citnalta was also responsible for electric, water, and gas services, and storm drainage and sanitary piping and structures.
R112 – 3K Center
Gannett Fleming Engineer & Architects for NYC School Construction Authority
This 3K Center in Staten Island encompassed the complete demolition of the interior of a 30,000 square foot building that was previously used to operate a store. The completed school included fifteen classrooms and two exercise rooms. It also has an outdoor backup generator and two rooftop HVAC units.
CUNY at Herbert H. Lehman College Nursing, Education, Research and Practice center & Associated Asbestos Abtmnt

Citnalta Construction Corp. is currently the general contractor for The Lehman College Nursing Education, Research and Practice Center project. The scope of work includes a new five-story 52,289 sq. ft. building located on the site of a parking lot and former bookstore on Lehman Campus. The center will include a simulation lab, classrooms, faculty offices, computer lab, testing center, research lab, and administrative and support spaces. The project was substantially completed in July of 2023.
P.S. 47 Queens: New Four-Story Building

P.S. 47 is a 44,580-square-foot project site located in the footprint of a previous school. The work comprises of the construction of a new (4) story school building from grades 3K to 5th with an asphalt paved playground that are enclosed by a wrought iron fence and gates. The Project’s Notice to Proceed was issued on November 2, 2021, with its school opening scheduled in September 2023. The original school that stood at the site of P.S. 47Q first opened in the 1950s and had a temporary addition added in the early 1990s. The school was badly impacted by Superstorm Sandy in 2012, endured structural issues related to heating and cooling and lacked basic necessities for childhood education such as a gymnasium, lunchroom, library and outdoor play space.
3K Center at P.S. 376 Queens

Citnalta Construction Corp. was the general contractor for the renovation of an existing second-floor commercial space (formerly a Bally Total Fitness), into a new 3K school in Jamaica, Queens. The scope of work included complete demolition of existing mechanical duct and piping, fire alarm, sprinkler, and plumbing. The building fit-out included general construction of twelve new classrooms, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection work, warming pantry, two playrooms, student bathrooms, staff room, parents’ room, and MEP rooms.
P.S. 160 Queens: New 4-Story Addition and Upgrades to Existing School

The scope of work that Citnalta Construction Corp. is responsible for includes the construction of a new four-story addition and half-cellar and the associated connection to the existing building, completion of all site work, general construction, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection. The superstructure is a structural steel building with a precast panel façade and spread footing foundation. The team is also responsible for upgrades to the low voltage system in the existing building and in accordance with the GSG, photovoltaic panels will be installed.
3K Center at P.S. 447 Brooklyn

447K is a conversion of an existing art studio, warehouse style building into a 3K Center. The school consist of 9 classrooms, exercise room and warming pantry. Construction includes demolition of interior space including the floor slab. Followed by excavation and installation of underground plumbing including storm/sewer and a SSDS system. Backfill and construction of a new concrete floor slab. Mechanical system consists of 2 roof top units and electric heaters to cool and heat the school. The exterior work includes detention system in the school’s yard, new play surface and concrete pavers. Outside the school we are replacing the sidewalk on the perimeter of the school including about 15 feet of asphalt on the street.
Old Boys High School

P.S. 135 Queens: Design-Build/Modular Addition

P.S. 135 was one of Citnalta Construction Corp.’s first design build projects, this stick-built precast build required creative planning and careful building to allow Citnalta to fit the new two-story addition in the tight area directly adjacent to Bellaire Playground.
P.S. 63 Queens: Design-Build Modular/Stickbuilt

P.S. 63 was a project involving a precast, plank, and stick addition that included the installation of a modular, prefabricated, three-story elevator. Due to the concerns for the stability of the existing school, a hidden cantilevered foundation was built for the new additional to alleviate the pressure on the older building.
P.S. 228 Queens: Design-Build Early Childhood Center

Citnalta Construction Corp. was the design-builder for P.S. 228 in East Elmhurst, Queens. The school serves 350 pre-school, kindergarten, and 1st – 2nd grade students. It holds classrooms, a cafeteria, a library, and indoor and outdoor recreational spaces on a tight urban lot. Flexible multi-purpose rooms are programmed for community uses after hours. Located at a busy intersection, the three-story school is a highly visible structure in the community yet must provide safe entry for young students.
P.S. 242 Queens: Design-Build/New Early Childhood School

Citnalta supervised the design, sub-consultants, and the trades throughout the entire project which was completed in an aggressive 14-month schedule from start to turnover, including the dewatering of the entire site.

P.S. 268 Queens: Design-Build New Primary School

Citnalta was responsible for supervising the design sub-consultant and all the trades performing work on the project. Prior to building the new school, Citnalta removed asbestos and demolished a full theatre.
Carl I. Icahn Charter School

Citnalta Construction Corp. constructed a new 23,000 sqft. school that was adjacent to a 100-year-old Metro North Railroad (MNR) track and retaining wall. One side of the building was precast and erected during off-hours with track flagging and outages. Citnalta worked closely with MNR and completed the project on time.

Citnalta Construction Corp. was awarded a general construction contract to build a 120,000 sq. ft. new three-story school and site. Prior to the construction start, the demolition and asbestos abatement of an existing hospital building was required. The new High School Building included extensive laboratory spaces geared towards Health Sciences. The project management staff included project manager, field supers, field engineers and office administration to oversee all subcontractors, general conditions labor and the self- performance of all the concrete trade activities.
Van Nest School New Building

Citnalta was the General Contractor on a 103,000 sq. ft. combined public/charter school in the Bronx, New York. The school has all standard school systems: a 700-seat auditorium, a full-size gym, and rooftop play yard. Citnalta coordinated with Civil Builders (the developer), Carl Icahn Charter Schools (operator of the charter school) and the NYC School Construction Authority. The project was completed on a zero-lot line site in 21 months.
Urban Assembly School of Business for Young Women

The project entailed the interior build-out of three (3) floors at the iconic 26 Broadway building. The building is uniquely located with the famous tourist attraction, “The Bull” at the front and a Homeland Security office set-up at the rear. Citnalta was responsible for renovating three floors of this thirty story building. This included the installation of a complete kitchen with ansul system, dance studio, multi-purpose room, science lab, library, several classrooms with the latest teaching technology.
P.S. 89 Brooklyn: Design-Build a New 4 Story School With a Full Cellar

Citnalta Construction Corp. was the design-builder for a new four-story school with a full cellar in Brooklyn, New York. Citnalta was responsible for supervising the design sub-consultant and all the trades. The project was completed in an aggressive 18-month schedule from start to design turnover to the New York City School Construction Authority. Citnalta performed the work adjacent to a Long Island Rail Road tunnel and was required to take extra precautions during the foundation and support of excavation operation.
P.S. 160 Annex Brooklyn: Design-Build New School & Existing Building Alteration

Citnalta Construction Corp. led the Design-Build team for the delivery of a new 65,000 sqft. addition including retrofit and low voltage upgrades to the existing building. As the Design-Builder, Citnalta was fully responsible for overseeing and supervising the design consultant and sub-consultants through the duration of design and construction, until the final Certificate of Occupancy was issued. Additionally, all subcontractors were contracted with Citnalta for the performance of the work. The new addition was 5 stories adjoining the original elementary school. It provides K-5 capacity for an additional 550 students. The new addition included a fully finished basement that was constructed of structural steel, concrete on metal deck, and CMU exterior with cast stone surrounds. It also included a new kitchen, offices, cafeteria, and a gymnasium along with 16 classrooms, and specialized instructional spaces for science, music, art, and special education. The existing building and new annex are connected by a sky-bridge. The project included all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and all finish trades. The addition provided much needed classroom space and state of the art equipment, and an updated auditorium layout that is ADA compliant. The work on this project was completed on time and on budget.

I.S. 297 Queens: New Four-Story School & Playground

Citnalta constructed a new free standing 4-story school building which included a new playground, located across the street. The building was constructed of structural steel & metal deck and brick & block exterior with stone accents. Citnalta was the general contractor for the construction of a new four-story school building and playground. The school was built to accommodate 400 students in sixth through eighth grade. Citnalta built specialized classrooms including a music room, science room, library, and a fitness room. Citnalta was responsible for providing all interior and exterior finishes, and the labor and materials for the installation of a complete fire protection system, sprinkler system, HVAC system, and plumbing system. The building was constructed of structural steel, metal deck, and brick and block exterior with stone accents. The work also involved cast-in-place concrete and concrete curbs and pavements. I.S. 297 won the 2015 Queens Chamber of Commerce Building Award.

Renovation of the Field Building at The City University of New York Baruch College

Citnalta Construction Corp. was the general contractor on the Renovation of the Field Building at the Baruch College project. The scope of work included a partial second floor renovation of the Field Building to accommodate the relocation of the building’s Data Center. Renovations consisted of selective demolition of approximately 500 square feet of existing office space, and the reconstruction of that space to include Haz Mat abatement; select structural upgrades at columns, floor and inset roof; interior construction to include new walls, ceiling and finishes; installation of select new mechanical and fire protection systems; and ancillary work in the basement, first, second, third floors and on the fourth floor inset room, necessary to facilitate renovation.
P.S. 170 Brooklyn: New Addition to Existing Building

Citnalta Construction Corp. was the general contract for the P.S. 170K project, the Ralph A. Fabrizio School in Brooklyn, New York. The Project involved the construction of a 48,183 sq. ft. new addition and architectural and mechanical modification of the 65,032 sq.ft. existing school to bring the building up to code. The new building included a multi-purpose gym, multiple play areas for the children including an early childhood play yard and a 2nd floor roof top play yard complete with a safety netting system and an auditorium.
P.S. 35 Queens: New Building Addition

The new addition added 27,950 sq. ft. to the original three-story 1931 building and an existing two-story addition completed in 1997. Citnalta’s addition to the school provided a dual purpose gymnatorium, kitchen, cafeteria, library, music suite, and science and art rooms, as well as the creation of four new classrooms, an administrative suite, and an indoor play space.
Renovations to the existing buildings on this project involved layout revisions to the cellar located in the 1931 original building, and a roof replacement to the 1931 building. The cellar revisions included a mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection upgrade. Improvements to the existing yard were made to include a new basketball court, seating areas, and landscaping.
Harlem Dream Project Interior Fit-Out

Citnalta Construction Corp. was the general contractor on the Harlem RBI Dream Charter School. The school facility was part of an innovative mixed-use building that included three components on a New York City Housing Authority site in East Harlem. The residential portion was developed by Jonathan Rose Companies, and the charter school and office components were developed by Civic Builders. Citnalta’s scope of work included the interior fit out of a 60,000 square foot building which housed 450 students in grades K-8 on floor 1-4 adjacent to the residential tower. The charter school included 18 classrooms, an art room, a music room, a science room, a cafeteria with a warming kitchen, a gym/auditorium, administrative offices, auxiliary/small group classrooms, bathrooms, and a library/media/resource room. Located on the second floor there was a 5,000 square foot office portion of the school with a separate entrance from 104th street that serviced the Harlem RBI administrative staff.
P.S. 11 Queens: New Addition & Existing Building Upgrade

Citnalta Construction Corp. was the general contractor for P.S. 11, a multifaceted 169,000 sq. ft. educational facility completed in March 2019. The project also include renovation of the existing recreation yard which required installation of an astroturf playing field, new trees and shrubbery, and a new playground.
Pre-K Center at One Teleport Drive

Citnalta Construction Corp. was the general contractor on the Teleport Pre-K Center. Citnalta oversaw and was responsible for performing and supervising/coordinating the work of all of the trades. The Teleport Pre-K Center is part of the NYC Mayor’s Universal Pre-K Program. This interior fit-out was approximately 17,000 SF, and included new architectural finishes and new mechanical, electrical, fire alarm, and plumbing systems. The new mechanical, electrical, fire alarm, sprinkler, and plumbing systems were tied-into the existing building’s systems. Citnalta self-performed the footing, retaining wall, sidewalk and general conditions work as well as additional sub-contractor support. The project schedule was fast-pace; the Notice to Proceed was issued on December 12, 2014 and the project was completed on September 17, 2015.
Concord High School

Citnalta renovated Concord High School, which was built in 1894. The project involved a series of upgrades to repair over 120 years of deterioration to the building, including: a complete facelift with the repointing of all the brick above the basement level, followed by an application of masonry coating extending the lifetime of the bricks, and greatly increasing the school’s curb appeal. Concord High School was also redesigned with large new windows and window guards, in addition to the replacement of much of the slate tile roofing. The project was completed with addressing minor flooding in the basement level remedied through a chemical grout application.
P.S. 77/I.S. 266 Brooklyn: Exterior Masonry/Flood Elimination/Windows/Parapets & Roofs

P.S. 77/I.S. 266 was completed in 2017. The work consisted of a renovation of the interior and exterior of a 97,000 SF State Historical Preservation Office (SHPO) building for the New York City School Construction Authority as a new school. Citnalta, along with its subcontractors, performed replacement of roofs (roof structures and roof membranes), replacement of windows, including salvaging over 100-year-old stained glass, exterior masonry repairs and restoration, caulking, plaster and painting, plumbing, electrical, asbestos abatement, site flood elimination, hydronic piping replacement, HVAC systems, and fire alarm. Interior renovation work involved overhauling the interior finishes throughout the building; extensive interior plaster repairs on exterior walls and the ceiling in the auditorium; new partitions in many areas; new ceilings in the stairwells and plaster repair. In addition, Citnalta installed new stained-glass windows, new VCT tile floors, and refinished the wood floors as well as painted throughout the building. Additional architectural work included painting, tile, decorative stone and masonry, and wood floors.
P.S. 678 Brooklyn: New Pre-K Center

Citnalta Construction Corp. was the general contractor on the P.S. 678 project in Brooklyn, NY. The project involved the renovation of a former factory for the space to be used as a new pre-kindergarten center at P.S. 678. The pre-kindergarten center accommodates 324 children. It includes eighteen classrooms, a 10,000 sq.ft. adjoining playground, and two exercise rooms.
P.S. 19 Queens: New Addition & Existing Building Alterations

Citnalta Construction Corp. built P.S. 19Q, a new 5 story Building P.S. 19Q is a multifaceted 167,000 SF LEED certified educational building completed in February 2020 and performed in three phases.
Phase I involved the construction of the new 109,000 SF five story addition. The remaining 58,000 SF involved renovation work in Phase II and Phase III. These renovations included new classrooms, fire rescue rooms on each floor, a new guidance office area, and a nurse’s station. In addition, the existing auditorium was renovated for ADA compliance. Citnalta installed a new state of the art PA system in the existing building to interface with the PA system in the new building. Also, Citnalta renovated the existing classrooms, ran conduit, and installed outlets to accommodate air conditioning units.
P.S. 32 Brooklyn: New Addition and Renovation to Existing Building
