Pier 96 Boathouse

Citnalta Construction Corp. built a 4,500 sq. ft. boathouse that holds 130 kayaks, canoes, and other small non-motorized vessels, and includes a boat repair workshop plus offices and restrooms, and large sliding panels, which provide natural ventilation. The entire project was 65,550 sq. ft. and included a large central grassy area, the boathouse, and a kayak launch at Pier 96. The construction of Pier 96 Boathouse included a distinctive sloping roof and sloping dock made of zinc for long-lasting and environmentally friendly purposes. The building's interior and exterior received wood paneling and deck made of reusable tropical hardwood. The boathouse is part of the Hudson River Park’s Clinton Cove Park which received a Plaque of Honor and was recognized as one of the top projects in the New York Tri-State area by the Real Estate & Construction Review New York Tri-State Edition.

Tennis Courts at Spring Street

This contract included the removal of debris, piles of excavated spoils, and old concrete barricades on the upland side of the riprap that lines this area of the Hudson River. After completing the grading of the site, Citnalta installed fencing, windscreen, lighting, benches and three tennis courts all to the exacting standards of the Hudson River Park Trust.

Athletic Field at Pier 40

Citnalta was the general contractor responsible for the construction work for the new athletic fields located at Pier 40. The main athletic field was 400ft by 400ft and was covered with an artificial grass surface. Tens of thousands of yards of sub-base and base were imported and graded before Citnalta completed one of the largest installations of artificial turf. The rooftop recreational area was 120ft by 210ft and was used as an open use space which was also covered with an artificial grass surface. Additionally, to create the space for the main courtyard field, Citnalta removed the old parking area and several automobile ramps, and upon removal Citnalta self-performed the construction of concrete slabs needed to cover the open water of the Hudson River below. Citnalta also provided for the installation of stadium lighting, safety and sound systems, the renovation of existing restrooms, and the creation of offices and storage rooms.

South Beach Psychiatric Center Central Services Building

Citnalta Construction Corp. provided construction management and general contractor services on the design-build of a new Central Services Building for the South Beach Psychiatric Center on Staten Island, New York. Citnalta was involved throughout the design process from schematic drawings to final design and worked closely with the designer on the project. Citnalta reviewed the preliminary documents for constructability of design, cost analysis, and the ability to achieve the target schedule date. Citnalta attended many design review meetings during all phases of design to aid with the streamlining of the process. Upon completion of design, Citnalta immediately began an aggressive procurement process, soliciting subcontractors for each trade. Citnalta provided project field personnel to manage the subcontractors and execution of the work through project completion. The scope of work included: ground up construction (including wood piles), concrete foundations, steel structure, masonry façade, and all mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and finish trades. The project was completed following an aggressive 14-month schedule.

Harlem Dream Project Interior Fit-Out

Civic Builders

Citnalta Construction Corp. was the general contractor on the Harlem RBI Dream Charter School. The school facility was part of an innovative mixed-use building that included three components on a New York City Housing Authority site in East Harlem. The residential portion was developed by Jonathan Rose Companies, and the charter school and office components were developed by Civic Builders. Citnalta’s scope of work included the interior fit out of a 60,000 square foot building which housed 450 students in grades K-8 on floor 1-4 adjacent to the residential tower. The charter school included 18 classrooms, an art room, a music room, a science room, a cafeteria with a warming kitchen, a gym/auditorium, administrative offices, auxiliary/small group classrooms, bathrooms, and a library/media/resource room. Located on the second floor there was a 5,000 square foot office portion of the school with a separate entrance from 104th street that serviced the Harlem RBI administrative staff.

New 116th Police Precinct Station House

The Precinct is expected to open in early 2024 and will be a 33,276-square-foot building with two floors and a cellar. The building is designed to be certified LEED Silver and will conform with Local Law 86.

Hugh L. Carey Service Building

MTA Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority

Citnalta Construction Corp. was the Principal-in-Charge for construction on the Hugh L. Carey Service Building Addition Roof Replacement and Building Repairs contract for the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority in 2004. The scope of work included preparing an existing conditions report that documented code deficiencies and prioritized recommended improvements for the service building. The existing conditions survey recommended the following improvements: replacement of upper and lower roofs; improvement of drainage at boiler room and roof; replacement of hot water heating pipes in boiler room; upgrade of the building envelope, including investigation of access from second-floor parking desk; install freight elevator; repair minor interior alterations; window upgrades and replacement; repaint façade; and expand the office space and create a conference room on the lower-level roof. Design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for the above-mentioned improvements were prepared. During construction, work was included reviewing shop drawings and performing periodic inspections.
